Nice to Meet You!

We are Aaron and Heather Hendrick. We love Jesus. We don't always do that well, but we're wanting to learn how to do that better and better. We share our life, our struggles and our laughter on our family blog. We try to be honest. Blogging is a great way for me to chronicle our children's lives and leave a written record for them one day proving that life is a journey, sanctification can be a process, and there's beauty in the space between "here" and "there." Putting thoughts out there for the world to read has grown my faith, changed me, humbled me and softened the areas where I needed exfoliation. I'm eternally grateful for the community of believers who sit with us, share with us and honestly tell us when they think we're being a little outrageous or short sighted.

We have been married 12 years. We are a walking, breathing testimony that God still heals marriages. Ours was a scene out of a bad movie until God intervened several years ago.

We have four boys.

Hudson. Ashton. Hayden. Anson.

Anson is a genius. He says things like, "Mom, you should get a Discover card because they give you cash back."

Hayden is crazy...but also a bouncing, breathing testimony that God still heals. There is no bug he will not catch. No reptile he will not grab. He loves music, the drums and makes us laugh every day. Read all about what God has done in Hayden's life here!

Ashton has finally been allowed to be a big boy. I've told Aaron a hundred times, "I'm not making him grow up until you get me another baby." Ashton is proud to finally be the big brother. He gladly handed over his title of baby brother to...

Hudson

He's our punkin. He's stolen our hearts and filled a hole in this home that could only be filled by Hudson Isaiah Hendrick.

Our kids attend Hendrick Academy. We have been homeschooling for five years.

We worked for Living Hope for 10 years. Living Hope started two new churches in 08/09, and Aaron is now the worship leader for one of these new churches, New Life. We are loving this new body, and could not be more thankful to be a part of what God is doing through New Life.
If you live here locally, come visit!

Aaron also works for Bryan ISD as their Media Specialist. That's a fancy way of saying Aaron makes movies. After working full time for a church for 10 years, Aaron felt led to work part time for a church, and full time in a secular job. This is new for us, but we're enjoying this new life.

I (along with my sweet friend, Kirby) teach women how to save money by couponing. What started out as a simple desire for both of us to learn to feed our families good food for much less has turned into a class we teach to other women helping them grow deeper pantries, while buying more and spending less.

I teach college women with a book I wrote called, Her Hands...but I'm too tired to edit it and send it to a publisher...so for now, it's going to have to stay as is...online and a big fat mess.

We have been foster parents.

We have adopted.

We just sold our huge, beautiful home in da hood and moved closer to our church.

We love college students. They keep us cool and on our toes.

We have the sweetest friends and the most precious family.

We love community, and are asking God to show us what it means to love, know and serve the family of God as though they are our...well...family.

Oh...

And I'm a breastfeeding counselor. I'm aware that all the males just bolted...but women...seriously...if you ever need help, have questions, or need encouragement... I am PASSIONATE about women being able to successfully nurse their babies! I will help you solve the problem AND be your best cheerleader!! You go, girl!

Welcome to our world. Kick your shoes off. Get comfortable.
